Our Record of Success
Penncara Energy, LLC was founded in 1999 by a team of entrepreneurs and scientists determined to develop opportunities in the coal and carbon materials industries. From 2000 to 2008, Penncara was the primary consultant in developing the largest project converting coal fines into useable fuel ever done in the United States. This project generated in excess of $1 billion of pre-tax equivalent earnings for participating companies.
Today, Penncara and their team of entrepreneurial, research, and legal experts boasts over two decades of unmatched success. Their work has accrued dozens of original patents and expanded into academic research and development collaborations with universities such as Penn State University and West Virginia University.
Protected process for coal-derived synthetic pitch
Pennpitch™ is a patented, coal-derived synthetic pitch engineered for predictable performance. The method converts selected coal into a clean extract, then distills and conditions it to deliver a pitch with a tunable softening point and a clean impurity profile—ready for electrodes, graphite, and advanced carbon parts.
- Liquefy with hydrogen-donor diluent to create a pitch-ready coal extract under milder conditions.
- Remove mineral solids & non-useful matter (de-ash / de-insoluble) for a cleaner, more uniform feed.
- Distill / heat-treat to spec—dial the cut to set softening point and forming viscosity for the application.
- Condition & finish to reinforce batch-to-batch consistency and downstream processing behavior.
Lead the Future with Pennpitch™
- Engineered for precision and performance, Pennpitch™ drives industrial efficiency and powers next-generation technologies.
